Do you know what hope smells like?

It’s a combination of the sea, of exposed seaweed and salty air.

Of wet sand on a winter’s day.

Jayne was mid forties when she experienced the worst and the best times of her life.

She fell in love, so desperately in love.

She lost everything overnight.

But no matter how bad life gets, how far down that dark tunnel you are, there is always a glimmer of hope.

From her dream house in Kent, via the nuthouse, and eventually to a cottage in Cornwall, Jayne takes a journey that is to wound, to destroy, and eventually heal her.

This is a story of one woman’s quest to find herself, and learn to love herself again.

Contemporary Romance for readers over the age of 18.

Review:

5 Stars

I can honestly say that A Virtual Affair was the most refreshing book I’ve read in a long time! The main character is 45 (that hardly happens), it’s based in Kent (that never happens), there is no bull storyline, it was just one completely ‘real’ read.

Like I said, Jayne is a 45 year old, mum of two. She is in a loveless marriage; her husband has been having affairs for years.

Her best friend Clara whips her away for a holiday, they meet two men and friendships form. When they get back Jayne keeps in contact with Stefan. I LOVED their emails to each other. Their relationship forms before your very eyes…..

The blurb gives you a great insight in to the book. I don’t want to give anything away. This is a book you need to read for yourself and take from it what you can. Each reader will find something in this book that they can either relate to or have even been through.

A Virtual Affair gripped me from page one. The friendships, the banter, the dog even keep you from wanting to put the book down.  I became so invested. The twists in this book shocked me to the core. You think ‘oh yeah, I know what will happen next’ and BOOM, the book takes you on another journey that you don’t expect.

I feel a little empty now that I have finished this book. I don’t really know what to do with myself. I’ve had my heart ripped out, I feel like I have just been through so much with my best friend. Tracie has captured such heartbreakingly beautiful story!

‘This is a story of one woman’s quest to find herself and to love herself again.’ And I truly believe that a lot of women who read A Virtual Affair will get so much from it. It’s Inspirational and I’m sure it will give many people, young or old HOPE!!

**ARC received for a honest review**

Note to Readers: Have a box of tissues near you!

Note to Tracie: You my lady have given me a book that will stay with me for life.  I can only imagine how hard/emotional this book must have been to write. I cannot thank you enough for sharing Jayne’s story.

Excerpt:

Do you know what hope smells like? Let me tell you…

First, I have to explain where I am. At the bottom of my small garden is a gate. A plain wooden gate that needs one hinge fixed. Beyond the gate are a few steps carved into a grassy bank. It’s down those steps that you can reach the beach.

The Atlantic ocean pounds the centuries old cliffs, the rugged shards of black rock snake their way into the sea and the course yellow sand whips around my feet. I breathe in deeply. The smell of exposed seaweed and salty air fill my senses. That is what hope smells likes.

For a long time there had been no hope. I was at the bottom of a well, in the worst place I could be. I couldn’t see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. I felt nothing but sorrow and sadness. And pain, so much pain. It has been a long journey but I need to take you back a couple of years, not quite to the beginning but to a pivotal point in my life. A time when I thought everything was going to be okay, when I thought my life was turning around. A time when I had plans and I believed I had the future I longed for. But I was wrong. It’s only now that I have hope.

And what am I hoping for? A reply to an email I have just sent.
