Frequently Asked Questions

Why swag?

I love being able to share information on an author or a book I’ve read when people ask me what my bookmark, pen or key-ring means.  I’ve been collecting swag for 3  years, and since I started Literary Epic generous authors have been donating items for the charity sale.  The swag now includes bookmarks, post-cards, key-rings, pens, magnets, wine glass charms, signed books, kindle covers, t-shirts and some additional quite saucy swag!

The smallest swag pack will have 8  items.  With a swag pack you’ll receive items from more than one author and hopefully by supporting the charities I’ve chosen you’ll not only help them to continue their great work but also get to know new authors in the process. Being able to introduce readers to authors and books that I’ve enjoyed is rewarding to me and an additional incentive that makes Literary Epic worth it!

How did you choose the charities who will benefit from Literary Epic?

For the first set of sales, I wanted to choose charities which had meaning for me, and the loss of my mum to pancreatic cancer influenced my first choice.  They provide information and support to victims and families and also fund research projects.

My second choice, Refuge UK, supports women and children against domestic violence.  Their services include working with families to effect change, lobbying, independent advocacy and community outreach programmes.  I selected them as I’ve been made more aware of this subject through the books I’ve read, and I’ve been shocked at how common domestic violence still is today. Books on domestic abuse stay with me like no other.

Which authors have supported the project?

It’s been just over 3 weeks since Literary Epic was launched.  So far many authors have liked the Facebook Page, and followed Literary Epic on Twitter.  The authors who are also donating additional swag are:

  • Sarah Elizabeth, Rachel Van Dyken, Nikki Gloom, Sydney Landon and Autumn Grey

I’ve been truly touched by the support I’ve received, thank you x

Are you going to have a blog as well?

When I first created this project I didn’t plan to have a blog to accompany the E-Bay shop or website.  I wanted to focus on the charities and raise as much money for them as I can.  However we've had such great support from authors that we want to give back and start blogging.  The knowledge and experiences I’ve gained through reading has been my inspiration for this project so I’m definitely up for sharing news of this sort!

How long will the shop be open for?

I’m planning to open the shop every few months.  Each time I will choose new charities to support.

How can I help?

There are lots of ways you can help, author or reader.

  • Contribute a signed book, send in some swag – signed / unsigned books, bookmarks, postcards, pens, or anything else you might have! Every little helps
  • Follow us on Twitter, share / like us on Facebook.
  • Help us to help others, let us know the causes that are close to your heart, ones that you would like us to support in the future.  We don’t want to be all about the big players in the charity sector, size should not be the defining factor, and we want to help the little guys out, to support as many different charities of different sizes as we can
  • Pass on our details to any authors you think would like to be involved
